Eureka Springs is located nearly 45 miles from Fayetteville, which serves as the primary metropolitan community in these parts, and is about 45 miles from Branson. The commute into the Greater Fayetteville Area is very manageable. Many residents make the drive daily during the work week while others make the drive for getaway weekends or to visit the city?s many alluring attractions. Fayetteville is also the home of the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, which is a prominent university in the Southeastern Conference. Year in and year out, the Razorbacks are a source of pride for many who support their athletic programs, attend live performances at their many halls and theatres, attend school there, or are employed there.

Eureka Springs Hospital is the main medical facility located within town limits. The town also has a medical community of several private practices. Other hospitals in the area include Carroll Regional Medical Center which is about a 15 minute drive to the nearby city of Berryville. South Barry County Memorial and St. Mary Rogers Memorial Hospital are also close by in the towns of Cassville, Missouri and Rogers, Arkansas.

Eureka Springs is steeped in a rich history with the genesis of its popularity coming from its springs and other water sources. The springs attracted tourists from all over the country and paved the way for profitable businesses to emerge such as hotels, saloons, bathhouses, and dry goods and grocery stores. Soon investors followed and then the railroad. As discoveries in medicine began to emerge, the mythical healing powers of the springs began to fall out of favor and the town?s average population steadily declined.

Today, the springs remain and are still a source of inspiration for those who live and visit the area. Many notable artists, writers, professors, and chefs have lived here over the years. In fact, musicians such as B.B. King and Willie Nelson and comedians such as Bill Cosby enjoy coming to Eureka Springs to perform at the City Auditorium located in the Downtown Historic District. Eureka Springs is now considered a tourist center and popular retirement community for those seeking a quieter way of life. While the town?s proximity to major cities such as Fayetteville keeps its citizenry on the cutting edge of technology, Eureka Springs itself is a wonderful town to escape from the hustle and bustle of metropolitan living and focus on the finer things in life like peace, tranquility and natural beauty.
